Rotarians and Rotaractors from across Manitoba were welcomed to a reception at Government House in honour of the 120th anniversary of Rotary. Winnipeg holds a special place in the Rotary world, as it was the first club established outside the United States, making Rotary international.
In her remarks, Lieutenant Governor Anita Neville praised Rotary for its many years of work in alleviating poverty and disease, promoting literacy, and championing peace and a clean environment. She cautioned that in the current climate, where our social, cultural, and political norms are being tested, there will be an even greater need for organizations like Rotary.
I can only echo Her Honour’s comments. I celebrate the work we have done together, but there is much more to do.
